Anniek's artistic practice spans a range of mediums including painting, installation, mixed media and sculpture. Painting, particularly abstract painting, has become her primary medium and a central subject of her work. 

 

She creates multi-layered paintings with an investigative character, diving deep into the experience of colour, movement and complexity.

 

In the absence of representational subjects Verholt gently leads the viewer away from the physical reality and guides them towards an inner reality, an introspection and an opportunity to 'hang out’ with the self.

She is interested in the unique perception of colour and experience of the viewer and often creates work with this in mind.
