The Scent of Greek Summer
This installation consists of 21 oil paintings - each 24 x 18cm - created for 'Fikos, the bar'. Ilias, the owner, describes it as a bar for the neighbourhood - located near Plateia Amerikis right opposite my studio in Athens. This series translates the (my) feeling or psychology of Greek summers. There's something unique about the 'experience' of a Greek summer which I feel should have its own word.... It's a party for the senses, slow paced, scents of pine and jasmine in the air, a cold frappe and a nice Greek salad, the sound of the sea, salty skin, warm and easy going evenings with friends at a neighbourhood bar. I translated this Greek summer nostalgia in these 21 paintings that will be on show during the summer ('25) at 'Fikos, the bar'.
