The Brick Project

The Brick Project takes the form of an installation and aims to raise awareness for mental health. It also involves a shared investigation with architects into the aesthetic and practical potential of glass sculpted features in architecture.

The installation is built with glass bricks (a metaphor for our own fragile nature) as well as reclaimed bricks. With the perceived contrast between the fragile, transparent looking bricks and the sturdy reclaimed bricks the artist invites her audience to examine the materiality and deeper meaning of the installation.

With a background in art therapy (BA '00 Netherlands) - and an ongoing interest in psychology - Verholt draws a relationship between her art practice and relevant socio-psychological topics. The Brick Project brings awareness to mental health and explores aspects of our fragile and - at the same time - resilient nature.
